Parish Partners: Ministry of Hope

Volunteer Opportunity: Share Your Time and Compassion!
Our Parish Partners Ministry of Hope is seeking kind-hearted volunteers to support our homebound parishioners. Many of them are unable to attend Sunday Mass or receive Holy Communion in person. But you can help by offering your time to either:

• Visit homebound parishioners to bring them the Holy Eucharist
• Provide rides to Saturday or Sunday Mass for those who need transportation

If you have a few hours to spare each month and would love to serve others in this rewarding ministry of outreach, we would be deeply grateful. Whether you’re able to drive someone to church or visit them at home, your generosity will be a true blessing.

To sign up or learn more, please contact Jeannermarie Baker at (203) 637-3661 (ext. 375) or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Thank you for considering this meaningful opportunity to share Christ’s love with our fellow parishioners!

WHAT WE DO

Currently, with 18 volunteer members, Parish Partners Ministry of Hope offers:

COMMUNION

We assist our deacons and Priests in bringing the Eucharist, reconnecting with those in our parish family who cannot be present at Mass.

ACCOMPANIMENT

We sit, listen and pray with those who are homebound, and anyone who needs a companion.

PRAYER REQUESTS

We welcome prayer requests from parishioners, their families and friends.  Together our ministers will pray for your needs.

BEREAVEMENT

We contact the families of parishioners who have died, offering our prayers and support.  We facilitate the New Day Bereavement Group twice a year.

EDUCATION

We conduct symposia on topics that relate to health, well-being and our Catholic faith.

SPIRITUAL SUPPORT FOR PARISH PARTNERS MINISTERS

We offer instruction in ministry work, and regular one-on-one follow ups. We receive guidance from our Chaplain, Fr. Christopher Perrella.

BEREAVEMENT PROGRAM

Loss is very much a part of all of our lives, and sometimes our grief can be so devastating that we feel completely lost or alone.

The New Day Bereavement Program is a faith-based weekly program lasting nine weeks.  Through group discussion, journaling and scriptural reflection the healing process begins to take hold, providing the participants an opportunity to understand grief in a way that helps to rebuild  identity and to strengthen faith in oneself and in God.

Advanced registration is required.  Please sign-up as soon as you can, as space is limited and sessions tend to fill up rather quickly.

There is no cost to participate.  All fees are covered by the Bereavement Initiative of the Fairfield County Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Bridgeport in an effort to support grieving families.

We all experience grief, and we all experience it differently.  But there is no need to experience it alone.
